The thing about history
We all know about the Boston Massacre, right? Five people died more than 200 years ago.
So raise your hand if you’ve ever heard of the Tulsa race riots from 1921, where a white mob burned 35 city blocks and killed somewhere around 300 African American people and dumped them into a bunch of mass graves, which is part of the reason we don’t know exactly how many people died.
They never taught us this in school. I feel like it’s something I would have liked to know. People want happy history, yeah, whatever, that’s not real history, because honestly, who do you know who is happy all the time and is all like LIBERTY YEAH! People apparently don’t want real history, don’t want to learn or think or remember, because historic preservation jobs keep getting slashed, museums are losing money left, right, and center, teachers aren’t paid nearly enough, and now Texas is going to rid their curriculum of critical thinking.
